I would say even Canadian system of education is different from US. However difference in Canada is 10% v/s difference with India is 80%.
Remember Canada is Commonwealth country and ex British Colony and their education system is amalagmation of British and US systems. So even in Canaz they will prounces Z as Zed and not as Zee as in US. They will also write cheque and not check.

Why should only GC holders get this 'permission'? F1, J1, L1 and H1 people should also be able to get their parents. Also, add all their dependents, H4, L4(??) whatever. We can all live as a big family then. Or, just pack up and go back to India.
Its ridiculous to hear people saying that they like to live in the US because of human values here, but then talk about Indian values. Please make up your mind. It's not just my family, my siblings, my whatever..... Think outside 'your' little world.

A recent post asking about how many people have EB2-India PDs of 2003 or earlier had no responses, so I am curious about the potential spread of waiting people (atleast in the sample set of whoever responds to this poll).

When the EAD and AP dates processing dates are backlogged, there isn't much advantage to early filing.
WithoutGCAmigo, no panic. there are processing dates which you should be worried about after you file EAD / AP etc.
To file it goes per visa bulletin. Hope you are upto date with that.

Hopefully from October 2010 the date stay as it is. Did you checked the cut off data it does show 0 requirement prior to 2006.
Very Disappointment for me.....as i missed it with couple of days.

Recently I returned after a one month trip to India. At DC airport the CBP secondary inspection officer grilled us rough. First he called my wife and asked why did we leave US. She told that since my parents are old and not in good health we visited them. Then he started asking for documents proving it. And told us that without documents he won't let us enter. He went on to say that AP is only on humanitarian basis and unless CBP officer is satisfied with proof they cannot allow AP holder to enter. Finally after convincing him for another 30 min he let us in.
This was a really shocking experience. Are employment based GC's AP supposed to be treated like humanitarian AP? or was the CBP officer over reacting? Gurus please throw some light.

With a few bills introduced or in the works, isn't it the time now to act and bring about awareness to our problems? I know IV has been working through state chapters. We can supplement those efforts with other means such as those suggested in this thread. We need to create an uproar about the hopeless situation and endless wait times due to retrogression, backlogs, and bureaucracy. I am not suggesting anything drastic. Just some peaceful ways that won't offend anybody to draw attention to the forgotten issues of EB immigrants.

If someone is exploiting we all have a choice. We can change employers; go back home, etc.
It may not be a totally open market but it is not like you have handcuffs around you. This type of talk of exploiting, slavery only hurts everyones cause.
United nations exploitation means, finding out at the end of 3 years period my employer played games with me. Finding out that A LOT more was promised that delivered. Finding out I made a long term decision to persue career in US only to realise that I was used as a cheap labor and when I INVESTED substantial time here, I got to know that employer is using creative ways to keep cost down, hamper growth opportunities. Have you ever been cheated? Then you will know what it feels like. Going back home is always an option but a boneheaded one. Eventually that might happen too!

the reason why we will not find justice is that our suffering is creating profits for the people with power and who vote.
your freedom is reduction in their profits. exactly the slave-master thinking. they will try their best to delay your freedom.
at my last employer (a large, respectable financial firm), they kept saying "GC next year" till they said "GC last months of 5th year". I was just a few months from that time, but i quit them in disgust anyway. doing GC with them would have meant another 5-6 years with those creeps.
this is classic zero-sum thinking. you'll see it everywhere in the US. you just have to be sharper at seeing politics. only you can protect your interests.
my advice to IV is to associate with some labour union. those guys are corrupt, but at least they have some power.

Best way to get more immigrants to participate in advocacy efforts by immigrationvoice.org for legal immigration is by communicating to international student organizations of various universities around virginia, maryland, washingtondc,west virginia north and south carolina. Arranging busses for the students is not a bad idea. Is this is true, then it is not the time to simply convert, but invest. Assume you invest 50K(23lacs) in India now and after 20 years, you should see the value of 23 lacs to be 8 crores. If that 8 crores is converted back to USD at the rate of 20:1, then you will get 4 million. Probably you could use this for yor kids college education.
You are right they know what they do but it will be beneficial for US economy only. In terms to USD to INR, we will lose. Check the history and present.
Future is India. After too much of outsourcing, INR will raise again USD and my guestimate is 1 USD to 20 INR after 10 years.

Thanks for your advise and i agree with your thoughts.
I thought of leaving this company several times, but I am working in this company for 6 years and the only company I worked after coming to USA. I invested so much for this company, like working beyond work hours, working in the weekends, making up the project deadlines for the incompetitive colleagues etc. etc. and now just waiting for my Green Card. There were so many times I thought if I get my Green Card I am going to leave this moment. Years passing by and with this retrogression thing, there is very little hope of getting it soon...
The positive thing is, my direct supervisor is very nice and I can voice my opinion and she understands me and completely supports me. I am just praying god that I should keep working for her till I get the GC.
I would only say "Hang On", or move on if you can. A lot of people in same situations, never want to discuss issues openly.
Patience does help, and maybe all the good is stored for future.
Most important is how you deal with stress associated with racial slurs, difference in treatment, and all the above issues. This has direct impact on health and many people in these conditions are victims of stress.
The h1b - GC situation is well known to everyone and they know you are indentured, some managers are called problem solvers (they pretend to hear ur voice, help you from their side and get the work done and try to ease pressure off you if they have an option), whereas some managers are called problem creators (they add additional pressure on you and make u miserable so that they get the work done). The reason companies support their American workers who involve in racial slurs is to avoid issues. It is easy to kick you out and blame you rather than catering to ur problem.
