I'm working on my entry currently, and it's coming along well, just some basic modeling and texturing, and some decent renders.
Doesn't have to look amazing or whatnot!

If you were not laid off, it is fine. Technically you are out of status only when you are laid off. If company didn't pay you that is probably an issue for the company not you.
If you traveled out and came back to US with a proper visa stamping, your old "wrongdoings" are pardoned. That is what 245(k) is all about. If you are not filing your GC through the same employer, you are even better off.

Out of status means staying in USA legally, but not doing what you are supposed to be doing. If you dont attend classes and go to college when on student visa, you are out of status even though you are legally present.
Your second paragraph, about "old wrongdoing" being pardoned, yes, 245(k) would clear that. However, if he had disclosed it, then yes, he would be in the clear.

Rationale: Any Software/Application used by DOS need talk to Client System (USCIS, Consular posts, NVC or other agencies) every month system for effectively moving VISA bulletin every month.

In case of a dependant 485 there is no requirement to be paid on EAD.
For AOS status, there is no requirement for person to be paid on EAD. It does not matter whether I-485 is for primary or dependent beneficiary.

Benching is a concept where a H1b employee is not productive to the sponsering employer, during this time the employer does not want to pay the employee. This is not permitted because such a concept just does not make sense.
Generally people find it difficult to find their first work assignment when they do not have US experience and a lot of people have initial bench, which is also not valid, but it is common.
Nowadays a lot of these body shops also manage to get some product development or outsourced work from clients and when their employees come on bench they are made to work on these internal projects or manage outsourced work and their payroll continues as they do productive work as well as look for future assignments.
Your case is defferent and you not recieving pay check during summer is not bench.
Prolonged benching have been taken seriously by USCIS. I am not aware of any cases in detail but people have had issues with spouses not getting h4 etc...
I have never heard USCIS penalizing unpaid bench. If it a problem and such a common case, why don't we ever hear about penalty against unpaid bench?

one of the reason I would like Core Team to consider sending email about the Advocacy Day.... that email will get more inactive member like Chandu who got greened and has no good reason (nothing wrong abt it...most of us do the same) to continue visiting IV. Please consider sending one email on Feb and March.
If someone gets out because of this email I am sure he/she is not going to work on any IV activities even if IV never sent any email. Those members join IV just for some free advice and nothing else.
Pappu & StarRun consider this request and let us know where we stand on this. I had collected some content from this forum for flyers ( decided not to pursue further after discussion and advice from StarRun).
On side note, I agree with Chandu regarding convincing our spouse on these kind of expense and participation is really tough a job. We have bought up by teaching/preaching any activities other than studying (for grownups working) is not worth it.

My friend I have seen many things in my 45 years life. But never have I seen as much bullshit in one post. If you are so smart that your invention could lose $3 billion in a quarter, why are you unemployed for last 1 yr? If you don�t have a job it has got to be someone else�s fault, right? And that is what it is - these jobs that we are trying to fight for here have been STOLEN. And yet there are so many of you who just think that is ok - sure who care let them go....if a Hitler type were to rise again and another World War were to come.....this GREAT Country that you declare to love would not be able to defend itself.....because it's fabric....it's backbone has been dismantled my the theft - by the race to the bottom, by whatever you want to call it....it's all but gone - the dream that you think is still there is a puff of smoke my friends...plain and simple. There is not an INDIAN or CHINAMAN that has the background in IT nor the number of US Patents, and inventions that I have given to the companies that I have worked for and for the country I love. Yet one year after being unemployed I still can't find a job and as a book that is about to be released will educate most on you of who I am find this out - I dare you to look carefully and see just how many others like me are being displaced by un-americans and how that knowledge is taking the competitiveness of the US and shipping it overseas. How sad it is. There is a chapter in the book of one of by greatest inventions that has stood for 10 years to protect a certain part of your life....it was never breached -it never failed in 10 years and yet last month, my former boss showed me how almost 3 billion dollars this quater of American wealth was erased because an Indian person now controls that system and doesn't understand what he's doing and even though I could point it out in a 10 minute conversation I won't and I hope that some of you who are saying no to this in a way without understanding it lose your hard earned money.....I certainly have lost more than you can imagine.....all I can say in the end is not God Bless the USA - but God Help Us.....God Help the USA.
None of us came here uninvited. For last 16 years I am here LEGALLY at the invitation of my employer - an American enterprise which makes and keeps America great. Your �real American� thing is so bullshit because everyone loves to claim that they are only �real Americans� and rest everyone is fake. We sent out a newsletter last night and out of 8400 emails, we have nearly 250 bounced back.
Emails like a@abc.com are obviously bogus emails.
See, I can understand the reason for that, you dont want spam. But we send out newsletter less than 2-3 times a month. And we dont sell information.
Send them PM and track them when they are logged.
IV newsletter is NOT spam. It is VERY good cause for the recipient. You have to be more aggressive.

in my opinon its a supply demand market ..if some companies are exploting people who are consulting .. it has it shares of good things
1) no big company will generate a pay stub (just by payin u paying the taxes and being on bench)... which by the way is required to do things like renting or getting a credit card
2) not every big company does your GC .. this is from First hand exp .. a friend of mine worked for CISCO for 5 yrs at a very good sal but cause cisco was not able to file his labor he swtiched and now is making half of what he used to make at cisco . but again that is his call
3) Nobody put a gun to your head and asked you to come with an H1 body shop
