I am contacting them and will march with them. If undocumented get a bill, our bill will come automatically. We should be supporting them. If we support them they will also support us. With their support we can get our bill. If we try to do a rally for ourselves the so called educated people on H1B and EAD will not come. They will rather spend time driving in their nice car to Disney or eat out in a fancy restaurant. So I believe we need to side with undocumented and help them to help ourselves.

As I understand, technically there are different situations - for example,
1. If some one is married to Canadian Citizen, his/her requirement of presence not needed and can hold lifelong Canadian PR, while remainig in USA on GC or as US Citizen.
2. Similarly, if someone is hired by Canadian Company and sent to USA, his/her requirement for presence is not needed.
American Citizen do get Canadian PR, there are some advantage too, such as medical.

it is very easy to get it done. You take money , go to scotia bank branch - there are tons of them there & get it done. Takes about 5 min. only. But go to Canada a day before to avoid any problems.

I am planning to file my 7th year extension and would appreciate some one who can provide some guidance. I have a pending I-485 (July 2007 filer).
My six year visa expires in Sep 07, 2009
a) How much in advance we can submit HIB petition. I read some where H1B can be applied six month in advance.

Part 6 , Processing Information On Page8 of I-765 Instructions states =>
"Interim EAD. If you have not received a decision within90 days of receipt by USCIS of a properly filed EADapplication or within 30 days of a properly filed initial EADapplication based on an asylum application filed on or afterJanuary 4, 1995, you may obtain interim work authorization byappearing in person at your local USCIS district office. Youmust bring proof of identity and any notices that you havereceived from USCIS in connection with your application foremployment authorization."
Notice that Interim EAD is for ASYLUM Applicants.

I think something is missing here. How did they find out ?? Did they take you in for secondary inspection?? taxes?? If your university allows online classes, you might be able to finish your courses online and complete the required coursework(i.e. ofcourse if you dont need to finish thesis or defend project work) the university should be able to confer you a degree.... might be worth chatting with the international office.

I Applied H1b 8th Year Extension on Jan 9th. Still waiting Anybody has this kind of situation? my Case number Starts with WAC
I Applied my H1b extn on Jan 9th , and i went to India on 18th Jan and came back on 18th Feb using my AP is this could be cause for the delay.
Please share your experiences and ideas

Just got response for my SR saying there is a RFE on my case and the letter is sent to my attorney. No update or no SLUD, LUD online. No RFE on spouse case but still waiting.

It's actually a myth that a longer lens requires a higher aperture. For the same framing, you get the same DOF (Depth Of Field) for the same aperture, whether you use a 600mm telephoto lens or a 4.5mm ultra-fisheye. - Mats
You are technically correct of course, but for practical purposes, if Shannon's primary goal is trying to capture a good depth of field of a child running around, and based on Shannon's comment about the willingness to crop, DOF will be easier to achieve with a wider lens.
Having said that, it was good for you to provide the rest of the story as it may be the basis of decisioning as the skills improve.

I read some posts from the thread you mentioned and i was not able to read it entirely as it was a very long thread. I couldn't figure out what changed with respect to EB2 job zones. I have filed my current perm in EB2 with senior software engineer title and i am not sure what will happen to that. I am in this country for 5 years and still struggling to get my PERM approved (So far i have filed PERM three times :)) Is there anyone in IV who has got their PERM approved with Priority date from DECEMBER 2008 onwards? This will be little encouraging.
Are there any PERM approvals with priority date after DEC 08? I believe a lot of people on IV have already passed this stage (Many may have EAD by now) and there may not be many in this PERM queue. There are people like us who are still stuck with PERM and need to hear from fellow IVians if they are aware of the reasons for the PERM delays. My wife is planning to convert from H4 to H1 for dentist.
1) Does she need a dental license to apply for H1 ?
She 'qualifies' for a dental license (ie meets all requirements), but almost all states require a SSN to issue a dental license. Since she is on H4, she doesnt have a SSN. Problem: Dental License needs SSN - SSN needs H1 - H1 needs license - basically a "Catch 22" position here
2) I did some googling and found that UCSIS issues H1 for 1 year for nurses who do not have license(because of no SSN). Would this apply to dentists as well ?? link (http://www.murthy.com/nurse_faq.html#2)

I just wanted to get some input from the veterans here who have started a business in partnership while they have been waiting for the coveted green card.
What kind of legal paperwork does it take to start a business? I would think as long as you don't work for the business it should be ok? If you can own part of a corporation (stocks), you can be a partner in a business?
Ideas?
If you are in H1B status, you can start your business by investing, but not working. You can not work for your business to get paid, but you can get profit sharing. In Wisconsin, when you register, you need a President/CEO who can legally work for your business. You can check with your state and register your business there. Probably, you even can register online in some state. Of cause, later on, you will need help from your accountant, laywer, etc.
If you have Green Card or EAD, that is not a problem to run by yourself.

After years of struggling and 25k down the drain i have decided not to loose my Canadian PR card ( i have been out of canada for 21/2 years out of 5). so to maintain the card i have to be in canada for the next 2 years. so... right now i have an approved I140 based on which i will be filing a
h1. once i get an approval ( 3 years extension) i will move to my other office in Canada.
The question i have is, can i come back into the country using this stamping after 2 years staying in canada ? and let us say i dont apply for my h1 but when the SKIL bill (if and whenever it becomes law) can i apply for I485 even though im in canada ( i dont think i can)
Any help is appreciated
