I think I figured out what is bothering me so much with the UI (other than the flash-like scroll bars):
Every aspect of iTunes uses Apple's system font, EXCEPT for the iTunes Store - all of a sudden it's Arial, or Helvetica, or something...it really throws me off. All of the Mac OS (not just iTunes) uses Lucida Grande, except for the store.
Very strange, and un-apple looking.

French culture and religion remained dominant in most of the former territory of New France, until the arrival of British settlers led to the later creation of Upper Canada (today Ontario) and New Brunswick. The Louisiana Territory, under Spanish control since the end of the Seven Year's War, remained off-limits to settlement from the thirteen American colonies.
Twelve years after the British defeated the French, the American Revolution broke out in Britain's lower thirteen colonies. Many Quebecers would take part in the war, including Major Cl�ment Gosselin and Admiral Louis-Philippe de Vaudreuil. After the British surrender at Yorktown in 1781, the Treaty of Versailles in 1783 gave all former British claims in New France below the Great Lakes into the possession of the nascent United States. A Franco-Spanish alliance treaty returned Louisiana to France in 1801, allowing Napoleon Bonaparte to sell it to the United States in 1803. This sale represented the end of the French colonial empire in North America, except for the islands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, which are still controlled by France today.

Even though iTunes says that 5g ipods are up to date software version 1.2 is in there...
You must restore the ipod and it will restore using software update 1.2
note that this does NOT give search function, but it does provide compatability for games and the newly released 640x480 movies/videos

No, not a direct challenge. I'm sorry, I was using hyperbole to drive a point home. Apple's not obscure anymore. Even though they control a small portion of the total PC market, I'm seeing more Apple commercials on TV and online than I ever have. They're extremely high visibility now.
And as for the hacker challenge, many believe that the new commercials present a "smug" image of Apple, and one of the commercials specifically touches on the nonexistence of Mac viruses. Now I realize that this is not exactly an open invitation to challenge the OSX 20-ton gorilla, but to some hackers, this does indeed make Apple a target.

Well, the keynote had me there for a second with the whole “52% smaller” thing ;) but now that it has been clarified, I still think this is a solid update for the nanos – lower prices, higher capacities, more colors, 24 hour battery life – it’s all good. :cool:

Id also like to add that I increased spending on veterans, so you can save the "you don't support the troops" crap, I dont want to hear it.
The funny thing is that our current war spending doesn't put anything aside or even factor in the serious cash we're gonna have to drop on veteran benefits down the road. Thats a huge unaccounted for money pit, that MUST be paid for.

Well, I suppose we could redesign the economy so that it does not go at the world's resources like a cloud of locusts, nor beats most of the country into whimpering blobs of gelatin and fails to manufacture terrorists through rapacious adventurism (ahem: what did they fly planes into?). Probably not, though, because then our tech-toy upgrade cycles would be much less regular, we would have to fix more stuff instead of replacing it, and there would simply not be enough margin to maintain the crucial upper class.
So, yeah, practically speaking, we have to.

According to studio executives, "Wal-Mart has overtly threatened to retaliate if [studios] go into business with Apple."
### Just one more reason to add the extremely LONG list of reasons to continue *my* boycott of Walmart. They are evil.

Excellent news, glad to see Apple isn't too far behind the times, nor were they going to do something silly like make us wait for Santa Rosa in the MBPs before updating the MacBook line. ;)
My wife will be thrilled, she's been holding off a purchase until the MacBook line got upgraded. Now that they will be out we can test drive one, make sure it meets her needs and we'll have a nice addition to our family. ;) :cool:

This would explain why their catalogue was discounted to itunes album pricing lately, grab the $10-per-album crowd's money while they can.
Music released to stores in January are what labels think have no shot. Unless itunes is different, I wouldn't expect Beatles there until March, possibly next Fall to make a big splash for xmas shoppers. The "1" album oughta be the biggest seller.
I found an article that says Lennon's rights reverted to his estate as the original 28-year period expired during the 90's. If true, McCartney and Sony/Jackson split the other 50%.
BTW, clearchannel didn't ban. Stations could take the advice or ignore it. Govt. censorship is all that truly matters, anyway. Radio Disney won't play death metal. oh no, BANNED! *eyeroll*

I think it's a computer that will fit inside your home and possibly carry around with you (There's something in the Air), that can use your modem's telephone line to connect to the WWW and display text and graphics.

While we don't know exactly how the Firmware update was designed, it would appear as though the update could simply ignore symptoms of a SMC short circuit to allow the laptop to continue operating. If this is the case it may degrade a MacBook's ability to detect true over-heat situations.
AppleInsider had previously reported that a new MacBook logic board was under development to eliminate the root hardware issue, but a release date was not known.
