We're very used to using a mouse, but it's definitely not the most natural way to interact with a computer.
Voice commands are the most natural way to interact with a computer. But it does not work well.
Touch screens are more natural than the mouse and keyboard. But they too do not work as well.
I choose usability over "natural".

i don't understand why some people would long for 12 inch ones when macbook is 13 inches. don't tell me 1 inch will make that big of a difference.
Ever owned a 12" powerbook? I have two.
There's a reason a lot of 12" powerbook owners rave on about them. The form factor is very neat. It sure isn't about how powerful they are :).

Urr no. Sony Vegas had had this sort of pricing for years and is used widely professionally because that was what it was designed for. Do you actually think that being a professional is being about owning a certain piece of software?

Clarify please. You just threw that out of the blue. I'm not understanding where you're getting that from.
What I meant to say is that the things we suggest and clamor for here are things which Apple already knows.
We aren't going to alter their course with any of our statements, save for that 1 in 1000.
Apple is a $5-7 billion dollar company (depending on AAPL when you read this). A full fledged chip maturation is a multi billion dollar process, thusly Apple relies on other larger companies to fab its chips. It provides input, but it is a slave to their whims. Sadly, Motorola's whims have not included advancing the G4 at a 'market leading' pace.
We can tell Apple what we want them to do, but they are aware, and they are doing.
A Power4 derivative with 160+ vector instructions just doesn't make sense for IBM to develop, if they don't have a specific user, or feel like adding Vector based instructions to AIX.
So do what you will, but know that you won't change the future in a positive way by vocalizing.

I have to say I mainly agree with Jobs on this one.
Microsoft is encouraging "nerdiness" while Apple is telling you to live your life and interact with one another.
I guess his point is that the world has become a colder place, with serious lack of human contact promoted by the internet and the digital content that surrounds us. I'm all in favor to true human interaction, switching earbuds and etc, do we really need to send something to someone that is 5 feet away? Just get up and go there... And c'mon, whoever is saying that they're disgusted of putting on someone else's earbud is just being paranoid and picky, like the "shark attack" and "killer bee's" danger, it's just in your head, you ain't getting AIDS from an earbud...
IMO people need to get out more, talk to each other and stop doing everything wirelessly and digitally.
JOBS RULLLLLZZZZ! (I lost it now...)

My guess is that iTunes will support wireless syncing of content, contacts, calendar etc over home wifi and public wifi for iPhone and iPod touch (also over edge for iPhone).
Another possibility is that you will be able to buy movies & other high def content for download from your iPod tough/iPhone, your home iTunes will then download it and transfer to your Apple TV automagically.
Alex.

In all honesty, he took the job knowing that he has to submit all his software he makes for facebook to Apple. I don't understand why he has to make a public comment whining about why he doesn't want to submit his software to a "middleman". Cool, next week I'm going to go whine to my boss saying I don't like him telling me what to do. I'm sure my boss, i.e. Apple, doesn't give a ****! It's a job!!!! If you want to be your own boss then do that, but don't whine about the role of employer/employee when you took the job!

Your not paying a premium for the color, you get 8GB. What sucks is you can't get 8GB in colors, lame move on Apple's part with no reason behind it.
Oh, there's a reason behind it.
Folks diss'ed the higher costs for a black MacBook, but they sold in huge quantities. Obviously folks were willing to pay for the color.
Same thing here I think. BUT, yes, I would have liked color choices in the 8 gig.

The old posts are hilarious & full of negative comments about how the iPod will flop. The advice for Apple to get out of the "gadget" business are very funny.
Interesting how things change, the forum following the iPhone launch couldn't have been any more different;

This is a breathtaking device that I can see alot of people wanting, especially me! I wonder who they will partner with in the UK? Congrats Apple Inc!
Very impressive! Worth the standing ovation and the $6 gain in AAPL share price.
Now the long wait begins.
How they kept the name "iPhone" is impressive in its own right!

Fantastic! Palm's CEO going to be eating his words now. 1%. That's funny. They are going to blow by that in the first month.
Amazing how things change over time, from Apple should do gadgets and just focus on computers, to this in less than six years!

Ah good to see that it's not worth upgrading my Core Duo MB to the new one, I think the speed increase wil lbe negligble (comparing a 1.83Ghz CD with 1.83C2D)
I think that's right, for the most part.
Those Core Duo MB owners might consider a hardrive upgrade, to a 7200rpm drive, for a nice speedbump.

Anyone knows how the GeForce 7600 GT compares to the Radeon X1X00 series?
Similar to the X1800 GT?
Must be better/faster than the X1600....
I believe the GeForce 7600 GT is on par with the X1800 GT, faster in some cases, slower in others. It's a pretty good graphics card. I would just like to see the GeForce 7600 GT bump out the 7300 GT on Mac Pro.

Any one see this in da newest iMac??!!! Didn't think so, thank goodness!!! I'll freakin stick to da keyboard!!
Anyone see the Magic Touchpad released without explanation? just wait.
It's no Wacom Tablet
This was only a speed bump. I believe Apple will release Touch Macs (already Apple Inc.) as an additional product line along side standard Macs, to ease the transition.
There will always be keyboards, for keyboard shortcuts if not the obvious bulk text entry. Half the work done by pro-applications (not just Apple's) is done with keyboard shortcuts. It's the mouse that's done for. Apple finally perfect the mouse, and they kill it.

I think they meant the build they showed last night, which is the same build they showed in Feb, is an old version that's no where near what the final version in terms of features.
All reports are that this was the February version.
And it makes sense, Apple likes to keep things secret. Sure they showed sone features but really nothing that was a huge surprise. Not even the whole Mac App Store and dropping FCE was all that shocking. That they did all of it at once perhaps was. But I bet they have something wild they are revealing until later. If I was a crazy betting person I would say something related to blu-ray(but still without internal drives)

any idea who the 3rd party vendor was? perhaps the hate mail should start flying there way!
That's the rub, isn't it. My first instinct was that they should have named the vendor by name so we know not to buy their products and all could see the smoking ruins of their company and heed the warning: write good software.
Then I realized why they didn't release the name... It's the same problem as for OS vendors-- if you release the details of the attack before it's patched then users pay the price.
That's the publicity vs security debate in a nutshell, methinks.

I will have to call Apple. My serial number is within the range and it says it is invalid.
Dang this is, I just bought a new battery to replace the one Apple will now replace for free. I guess I can try and return it for something else after it gets here. I don't really like having two batteries.
EDIT:
Mine finally went through. Yay!
