One thing that forces you to believe its true is the date itself, why 8 MAY ? it somehow paints a picture that somebody did calculated the remaining visa numbers and arrived at the exact comfortable date. Guys, chances are its fake, but you never know. :)
Folks, we need to stay hopeful. If you notice the date towards end is 9th august which would mean VB should have been released today which didn't happen. The release date for last few VB is also 9th. It doesn't take too much effort to copy an old bulletin and replace month with September and change some dates here and there with likely dates which would still look very authentic. Seems like someone hacked into this no name website for sadistic pleasure...someone who is not very pleased with significant EB2 movements in last 2 months.

The formating is also off. All other pages have a professional look. Why would the webmaster of a professional firm not pay attention to this. This indeed looks like a cheap hacking trick done in a bit haste. I am quite positive that real september VB with Q's predictions coming true will come tomorrow :) So my suggestion is to relax and have a good night sleep. Next day truth will reveal itself

[QUOTE=oldschool;147268]Are there any implications of leaving my employer now who sponsored me for GC? I got my GC on the first week of July. I plan to leave on the 1st week of September. Thank you very much.

You can leave even before your GC comes through by invoking AC21.

Frankly, I think the 6 month period is propaganda.

its my opinion and not legal opinion.

I am watching visa bulletin for 1 years now and found that if it releases early around 8th to 10th of month then no good movement but if releases close to 15th .. like 13th or 14th then some very good movement.

Here is the "India Thing" again.

Please, if you really love your country go back home. I don't think America really cares if you leave.

There will always H1-B application every year.

    I'm not from India.

Sorry to hear this. Regarding medical insurance, your company has to offer you COBRA..you will end up paying almost twice the premium that you have been paying so far, but it would still be better than you footing the delivery charges (10k - 25K). Continue CORBA atleast till the deliver and post-partum - for as long as possible..

As part of stimulus plan, you need to only pay one-third of the actual COBRA payment and you can avail this benefit for upto 9 months. In case you end up using it, this is a significant saving on your health insurance.

In trying to play the "devil's advocate", you still did not answer my question. i.e. "Let me ask you a simple question. What CAN be the "perceived benefit" from a rally like this that would make you think that it would be worth attending? Is it something like a guarantee for a GC in 2 months or a bill that passes next month that does everything we legals want? What is it?"

i already have my GC but i share the pain and frustration of folks who do not..if a 7 month wait process for me was frustrating - i can understand what a 7 year process would be to others like me...
With all due respect, I do not think you have a clue as to what a 7 year wait can be like. Having received your GC in 7 months, now I understand where all this critiquing is coming from (without offering any solution of course).

People have been quoting Gandhi and his South Africa protests.........those were different times and different issues.........

I'm still trying to understand your point...you do not want us to quote Gandhi, MLK or any others that could inspire and motivate us. You do not think a big rally will help. You do not think meeting lawmakers will help. As Walking_dude remarked before, so WHAT do YOU suggest we do?

unless there are drastic and dramatic measures - concrete changes are not possible........small procedural victories - maybe........drastic change.....no way!

Can you give a few examples of these "drastic and dramatic measures" that will give us "concrete changes"? I'm sure we are all ears and will be willing to employ these.

You have such an active and analytical mind. Why not use it for something constructive like suggesting actual concrete steps that IV can take.

if the american govt is non-responsive to the demand from 60% of its own citizens to withdraw from Iraq - how can we realistically expect it to react with super haste to our requests..
Your point being....? That we should not request or discuss our issues with law makers? Or because of the Iraq war quagmire, Congress will not take any other decision or pass any other bill until that is resolved??

Lastly, you mentioned about your pet peeve
america's competitiveness and risk of reverse brain drain........personally - i think most people dont care two hoots about these issues - these messages and slogans are not out of a new found love for america but to create a nice "politically correct shield" for people's own private agendas (and the collective agenda of all of us) - to get a GC.

My first reaction. You're kidding, right! Ever worked in marketing/sales?? When you go to sell your product or service, you try to sell it from the point of view of the customer. In this case, what the benefit can be from the point of view of the US govt and US economy. Yes, our primary aim is to get our GC's in a reasonable time frame. The slogans and messages are in support of these ( By the way both happen to be true).

Incidentally, even the spark in Gandhi was ignited when he personally was insulted and thrown from a train. My point being that it is only when we personally are affected by an issue that we react to it. The reaction ofcourse differs based on our own individual character, personality and other traits.

appreciate your comments - but as i said in my post clearly that I accept the probability that my views are wrong.....

""on the other hand if one day it so transpires that this rally was the historic starting point of major immigration reforms triggered by a group of pioneering individuals - i would have no choice but to eat my words and hang my head in shame that i did not attend.............""

But look at it this way......i already have my GC but i share the pain and frustration of folks who do not..if a 7 month wait process for me was frustrating - i can understand what a 7 year process would be to others like me....if people who are waiting saw the utility of the rally....there would have been more than 2,000 in DC.........but clearly they did not.......i was willing to give it a shot - but unfortunately could not and did not want to specifically postpone something else to make it to DC.......

People have been quoting Gandhi and his South Africa protests.........those were different times and different issues.........colonialism, racial discrimination etc.......if the american govt is non-responsive to the demand from 60% of its own citizens to withdraw from Iraq - how can we realistically expect it to react with super haste to our requests....besides gandhi had the courage to stand up to police brutality, get arrested etc.....in today's days and age - as white collared professionals - do we have the guts and will to do that? For example - we cannot even strike (non cooperation/ civil disobedience movement)....because we get paid by our respective private sector employers.....and our grudge is against the Govt - who do we strike against......?? and if we do strike or court arrest or adopt other forms of civil protest and by chance run up a police record in the process.......who would employ us in the future...in Gandhi's days - they did not have electronic background checks......!!

Another take - if US can have an endless source of temporary workers coming in, paying into income tax and social security taxes and medicare taxes for a few years......and going back without claiming a single dime of social benefits......its the best possible situation for US....a forever young, qualified, minimum wages (i.e prevailing wages) earning tax paying transient population supporting/ subsidizing an archaic and otherwise struggling social security and healthcare system.

another point people have been harping on (apologies for bringing this up but this is my only pet peeve amongst all the other wise great things that happen on this forum).......america's competitiveness and risk of reverse brain drain........personally - i think most people dont care two hoots about these issues - these messages and slogans are not out of a new found love for america but to create a nice "politically correct shield" for people's own private agendas (and the collective agenda of all of us) - to get a GC. Are we here to improve america's competitiveness (if that was the primary purpose of our coming here - shame on us for not staying back and improving our respective motherlands' competitiveness) or our own future - if the latter - lets call a spade a spade.........

so - whats the "so what" from my post? is it to critique what IV is doing - no! The "so what" is - unless there are drastic and dramatic measures - concrete changes are not possible........small procedural victories - maybe........drastic change.....no way!

just to take the "popular" Gandhian analogy a step further......There was Home Rule League and Congress in existence in India for a long time.....their objective was to petition the British Govt for small changes........and their ultimate goal was to get dominion status for india......only when Gandhi came on board plus supporters of other proactive forms of protest.....like Subhash Bose.....Tilak etc and the armed freedom struggle started (Bhagat Singh, Azad et al)......did Congress wake up and ask for "purna swaraj" (complete independence).......so from 1885 (founding of congress) to 1930 (Lahore Session of Congress when purna swaraj declaration was made) - nothing happened......british empire went from strength to strength.......then in 17 years - India got independence.......

pl think about what i wrote objectively......and dont jump on me just because i am playing devil's advocate

C mon guys.. Cant you see that this h1techslave dude is just chewing your energy out and digressing the whole agenda here? Looks like one of those guys who is disgruntled in the past and now acting smart. Why are you responding?

In 2 separate responses I have volunteered to talk with him and requested to send his info. No repsonse yet but he has all the time in the world to post on the forums, compare India/US/Canada.. **CK Some other members rallied behind him saying that they can just read fine with out bold/red.

    Mods,

We have discussed enough about IN/US RS/USD what ever under the roof.
    Enough. Please close this thread.

I dont think USCIS is thinking that way. They are just picking a stack of application ( mix of all EB1 2 3 for all nationalities) and validating the applications to see if anything is missing or if there are potential reasons to deny it. If they can deny it they will do it promptly and that is one less case to be shown as pending. If they need additional info they will issue RFE and get updates. If they feel satisfied they can pre-adjudicate application and claim that count in their yearly review as acheivement.

well my view is that it is not that obvious !! say someone is in EB3-I with a priority date of 2004 or EB2-I with a PD of 2006 / 2007 - what would USCIS do ?
these are not the low hanging cases (as opposed to EB2 with PD of 2004 or EB3 with PD of 2001) ..or in other words - there is less chance that they will become current soon ..in that case, does USCIS close the case and put the file away or will they still pre-adjudicate ??
(I am not as informed -- since I have not read the article in detail ..and hence my post is more of a question ...)

They would just increase the fees , and we will paying them that money back.
    State never looses...

Even in that case, all the benefits they were hoping to get from increased fees will be lost - and much more than that.

Average fee hike is $500 but average reimbursement of expenses would be atleast $1000

    good work nycgal369.

can you add the words "highly skilled" infront of "immigrants" (see in red below)?

    pappu
in response to your message, I have posted my original draft below, with a couple of changes based on my opinion - i.e. I believe in asking for only one thing at a time, and that is the skil bill, which will automatically provide for increased visa numbers. But each person can modify their version based on what they think.
If you think IV members should all be asking for the same thing then go ahead and modify this version.

    ===
    Dear xxx,

I belong to an organization called Immigration Voice, a small group (and to my knowledge the only one of its kind) that is attempting to help legal tax-paying highly skilled immigration applicants who have been in waiting in limbo for many years.
We are all highly skilled immigration applicants who are stuck in limbo, some for more than 8 years, despite being fully legal, tax paying and highly skilled.
Since the number of highly skilled legal immigrants is so small (less than a million) compared to the number of illegal immigrants (12 million) it is very difficult to get our voices heard about the problems caused by waiting in a seemingly endless queue. The issues, unlike those of illegals, are largely non-controversial, some as simple as asking USCIS to reduce our waiting time from 8+ years to a year.

Since we are all highly skilled in areas where there is a shortage of US available labor and provide a disproportionately large benefit to the US economy, we believe that approving our already filed applications on an expedited basis could be helpful to all of us.
Currently, a bill that is under consideration by Congress called the SKIL bill will solve almost all of these non-controversial issues.

I and my fellow members would much appreciate it if you could run a story on us, and/or direct us to a source that helps publicize our organization.

Please feel free to contact me directly at this email, or Immigration Voice at info@immigrationvoice.org

I think you should go to either Eatentown( Exit 105 on GSP). Before they started accepting all immigrant applications at all DMVs they used to ask every one to go there. I think you may be able to get a temporary extension for month or two.

    Somebody knew already....

Obama to hold meeting on immigration reform | AP Texas News | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/tx/7527577.html)

Well, Obama is a first a politician, in his first term as a President, seeking second term. What else do you expect... Latinos & Hispanic votes are very crucial for him if he wants to stay in office... Well, that doesn't mean he will deliver on immigration reform.. All he wants is to tell people , he tried, but he need to do more to convince the other side.... Same old story...
Obama revives immigration reform - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room (http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/156711-obama-turns-to-immigration-as-reelection-bid-gathers-steam)

"The question is going to be, are we going to be able to find some Republicans who can partner with me and others to get this done once and for all, instead of using it as a political football?" Obama told Dallas-based WFAA-TV during one of four local television interviews on Monday.

    Blame game started already !!!!

I don't think it will make a huge amount of difference. The visa loss is due to lack of manpower in processing applications. Now there will be even more applications and presumably no extra hands to approve them.

You can change your signature now - no more waiting:)
