My Priority date is April 09, I don't have I-140 and no EAD ofcourse. I bought a house last year.. whatever you say, i want to live every moment of my life. While coming to US 5 years back i came with just $500 never thought that i will stay in my own house one day in US.. I want to enjoy every moment of it. In future i am not sure what will happen you can't plan everything, atleast in my case, my plans never work out because destiny always plays its part and the plan gets Fcuk up. I don't want to rely on GC or EAD for happiness because its destiny.. if i am destined to get it i will get one day else forget it... i will go back.. If i had to get GC i would have got it long time back.. me and my friend applied for labor in Mar 06 he got is GC last year... but i am still stuck with my new PERM.. so there is no point in holding back your happiness.. just do what makes you happy.. after all it depends on each individual. Initially i did the same thing rented an apartment saved money and use to watch visa bulletins... its time to live life the way i want.

Honestly , I was really inspired by the old IV core when we were the most active during 2007 ( we had a huge rally and all all that ) . U stll remember the follwing folks

Where are these folks ? I do not remember to have seen a single post from these core members for the past 1 year at least . Could I requst the leadership to please come out and share your agenda and let us know whats the strategy and future agenda . We are now well used to to swallowing the worst news and if the news is bad and there is no hope for the next year or so lets be aware of that too .

Just because OP steals office supplies ( his bad habit of shoplifting) he is accusing all immigraants. I take offence to that and when someone asks others to make a choice to marry a hooker or a shoplifter wife as a defence to that shoplifter. How crazy is that?
And you are defending a guy who has committed shop-lifting with this? You should have probably come out with more ammunition than this. Because of ppl like the OP and maybe you, we Indians are getting a really bad rep everywhere. I am sick and tired of defending our community, when ppl like you and the OP defend (or even condone, in the name of an immigration query) such acts with no compunction. I think you have received some good and some useless advise on this post. It is in your interest to go to an attorney and find out what is the best scenario for you and act accordingly. The offense has been committed and the law has judged you .You have to deal with the consequences whatsoever.

As you may know, AC21 is not exactly a rule but is a guideline to the adjudicators in the form of some memos. As far as I know there are at least two or three memos addressing various issues concerning AC21. These are: William Yates Memo Dated August 04, 2003 and Michael Aytes Memo Dated December 27, 2005. You might get them by googling for those (could be in some threads or blogs on IV itself). In addition to these we also had all the documents that we sent to the USCIS as well (AC21 letter, copies of I140, old job and new job description). Yes its kind of too many documents to carry (and some might see that as a over cautious) - but after the last episode we are inclined to carry them along every time we go out of the country.

Can employee start working without SSN? My wife received H1 approval around Oct 2006 and we applied for SSN in Nov 2006. We received it by end of Feb 2007. From March 07 we got pay stubs.
People who switched from F2/H4 to H1 can consider their SSN application time as valid status. Right?
Person can start working after applying for the SSN.

The poor response is because we are not together and we truly do not believe in our goal. With the assumption that 90% of IV members are Indians, I can safely say this is innate in our culture - we want to get the benefit without working for it AND once we get the benefit, we give a damn about the rest of "them". :mad:

Alright, enough of beating you down. Now if your crime was adjudged civil infraction, I won't worry too much about it. Civil infractions are leinennt, but you are now all set for rest of your life to be in public records. Future employers and creditors would see that too when they do background checks. Other than that you got nothing to worry about. Go ahead and continue to plan for your India visit. But may I advise not to indulge into that habit of shoplifting? ... uhmm I know gifts can be very expensive.:cool:

It's cheap, and long term free advertisement. I would say IV should distribute attractive non-controversial bumper-stickers, instead of flyers which end up in garbage cans
