does this mean that i cannot get a 3 yr extension based on approved I-140 pp? My labor is not pending for 365 days and so I am solely depending on I-140 approval for a 3 yr extension. I am filing i-140 and i-485 concurrently before July 5...will this give me an EAD option even if 140 takes longer to get approved?

I think u guys are getting anxious and thinking of such ways. u will need some determination to complete the MS besides ur regular work.......suppose if EB2 gets clogged suddenly next year, will u stop doing MS then?

He said the presence of about 11 million illegal immigrants makes a mockery of all those who are going through the process of immigrating legally.
"Indeed, after years of patchwork fixes and ill-conceived revisions, the legal immigration system is as broken as the borders. Backlogs and bureaucracy means the process can take years," he observed.
He was quick to add that immigration reform has been held hostage to political posturing and special interest wrangling and to the pervasive sentiment in Washington that tackling such a thorny and emotional issue is inherently bad politics.
The president said besides addressing the issue of illegal immigrants, a reformed system also needs to address the need for talented people to stay and contribute to the country.

I was current for 2 months in 2008, didn't get. lets hope for the best

Dear friends
For every one of us getting GC is a nightmare. Though USCIS follows a system, I feel it is not correctly followed. Also I noticed that people who have filed before the PERM process are really suffering. There are people who are in EB3, waiting for more than 9-10 years, keeping hope and anxiously waiting.
I feel that we should write to USCIS to clear all the pending GC�s (EB2, EB3) filed before PERM (March 31, 2005) need to be processed before they take up any cases filed in PERM.
This will certainly make the process rational.

Here's a suggestion - instead of whining about the "unjust" treatment being meted out to you, go get yourself a PhD, publish some research papers, get a couple of patents under your belt, then go qualify for EB1.

Is it a good idea to contact the Congressman even when 90 days are not over. My EAD expires on 18th September and 90 days will get over on 24th September. I have already put in the expedite request with Texas, but haven't heard since then, whether its approved or not. Please suggest what should I do?

I don't think the threads on IV should only be related to GC retrogression. Yes, retrogression is the primary objective of IV. But, there are other threads on IV that are related to non-retrogression issues and, are very informative like threads on 401K etc. Anything related to immigrants should be welcomed.

Bottomline is they do not want to give us Greencard just use us and fool us. I am sure this 485 being current is big melodramatic thing.
And it is only 1 year of filing I-485 ( can i take comfort that many others have been stuck 2 year, 3 year etc ). ANother reason why visa numbers got wasted is that many fellas got stuck in namecheck ( Ask many of the Indian/Chinese/Russian folks ).

We have tried very hard to separate ourselves and not be a hostage of other issues. Now there is more awareness on the greencard issue being separate from H1B. There is also more awareness that Immigration problem is not just about Illegals. There are legal immigrants too in this country suffering.

Most people already realize there is opposition of republicans to illegal immigration, we saw the implosion of CIR on the senate floor this summer. The debate over immigration is a highly emotive one for the American public, the last thing they need is an influential newspaper such as yours associating these issues at a time when CIR is dormant. This is the type of reporting that can misguide the public.
Please correct this erroneous association which I suspect was an unintentional oversight given the impeccable journalistic reputation of your newspaper.

If there was more press coverage on the DC Rally i mean on TV it would bring the matter to the attention of more people. Someone suggested sending pizzas or roses to the media which I second.
