1- Each one of us buys 10 bath tub stoppers (you know, the stoppers you use when taking a bath, to stop the water from going down the drain) and mail them to Congress, Media, USCIS, etc- With a letter "Please stop the self-inflicted U.S. Reverse Brain Drain, already 100,000 highly-skilled have left, stop the 10-year green card delays for LEGAL highly-skilled immigrants that is pushing them out of the country in frustration and lured by the boming economies of their home countries. The way i see it, they've asked for past emp letter with tax forms and some w2s.
None of those would indicate that you were on the bench.
The emp letter should basically just indicate your dates for employment - start/end date, designation, duties and perhaps salary. that's all.

AILA has fax and mail campaigns and so do anti-immigrant organizations such as NumbersUSA who according to their organization last week in only 3 days claim to have sent 120K faxes! IMHO one fax will not cut it, a hard copy letter with every single member's name signed to it would be great but picture the logistics with only 2 days to act. I again refer to AILA, AILA has sent letters (see my earlier post referring to the links) but also urges the public and pro-immigrant groups to contact congress enmasse with content that they provide. As for the person who couldn't articulate the issues, that is indeed unfortunate as one in a worst case scenario can always give their personal story, be it retrogression, BECs, H1 cap, H4 inability to work etc etc or if they need to gather their talking points request an appointment to discuss the issue.

As per online status "Your response received on June 15th and processing resumed". If it's pending for couple more days, As per the rule i should get my $1000 back. Will my I-140 then thrown back in the normal (non-PP) queue?
How long USCIS tool to update the status online to show your RFE response has been received? I sent the response for RFE on June 7th and there is update about the case at all. No online status update either. God knows what they are doing with it. They are suppose to complete the case in 15 qorking days after they receive it.

Unfortunately, I can't leave the US for the following reasons
a) AOS pending
b) H1 expiring soon
c) Won't get any vacation time as just joined a new job.
I am in a similar situation. My 8th year H1B expired in May. 9th Year extension is pending. No receipt yet on 485/EAD/AP for Julay 2nd filing.
Fortunately my license is expiring next year.

I will just digest and summarise the interesting points:
For illegals who entered the USA before April 5, 2001...
Immediate Adjustment of Status after paying fines and any additional amounts
Must be employed for at least 3 years during the 5 year illegal presence
Employment requirement not applicable to those under 20 years of age
Employment requirement of 3 years can be reduced if proven physical or mental disability like pregnancy
Alien shall not be required to complete employment requirements with the same employer!
OK, I am not going to go on as I will leave the rest of the reading up to you all. But I need to ask this: "The adjustment of status" above... does this mean those illegals don't need to go thru LCA and I-140? Also, they don't even need to stay with the same employer at the time of applying for AOS....
Sounds like a very good deal for these people.
So could someone explain to me why we in the retrogression queue should accept this bill even if it increases H1B and promises to reduce backlogs for GC when illegals who have been here for more than 5 years (many of us also have been here that long) get special treatment? I am talking about a person (like 485mbe - the one who has posted next to yr post) who has a PD of 2001 ..I am not saying that they should give Eb2's quota to EB3 ..but they should try to pull the category that is worst affected..or atleast give EB3 something ..
my question to you is ..say in the year 2010, would u support a situation where all categories are current or at 1 year difference ...while a particular category (eb3 I in this case) is at 2001 ??.. even if you do ..my feeling is that USCIS will try to pull EB3 - I (if something like above happens)..but then they are just a govt agency ..and in the end they are similar to govt agency in India ..only difference is that maybe little better

I just call them, was told that they have no additional information that what is available on the recorded message or the USCIS case status web site. I said I wanted to know if the case is 'pre-adjudicated' and the lady mentioned that that information is not disclosed. ;(
